Country Advisor - North India
Allwyn Peter works as part of the International team growing the Institution’s membership and extending the Institution’s international reach. He manages the North India region, and focuses on growing the Institution’s presence through professional registration and membership. He creates and maintains long term relationships with a portfolio of key corporate engineering clients. Allwyn is also responsible for working closely with Academia and various Government bodies in India to promote various engineering related themes and events.
Allwyn has a BSc in Mathematics & Computer Science, an MBA in Marketing and more than 15 years’ work experience in office automation, recruitment and skill development in companies including Godrej & Boyce, Randstad and Skills Academy. He has worked in business development and operations functions, and handled regional and national roles. Allwyn’s experience in large businesses and smaller start-up environments makes him ideally suited to understanding the importance of internationally recognised professional development.
He is keen to help the Institution develop professional engineers and inspire the next generation of engineers. He believes that the biggest challenge facing engineers today is the lack of relevant skills; the gap between what is taught and the actual skills required by industry has become wide. He is keen to work with industry and academia to bridge that gap. In today’s world, engineering is the key to shaping and improving the future, and ensuring engineers continue to increase their technical knowledge and skills is vital.
When not working, Allwyn enjoys travelling and exploring new places. His favourite sports are cricket and swimming, and he loves music.
