Joyce joined the institution in April 2024 in the newly created role of Associate Director Impact. She brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles in the private and third sectors. As Associate Director, she will help shape the way impact is defined, measured and managed across the organisation to showcase the impact of engineers, members and staff and promote the importance of engineering for the benefit of society globally. Joyce’s previous role was as Associate Director (EMEA) at Business for Societal Impact where she led the management of consulting projects as well as the corporate membership scheme to support companies in articulating and measuring corporate social impact of their community programs. Prior to this, spent many years as the founder and lead consultant at Pivot Global Education, where she managed and delivered international monitoring and evaluation project and engagement programmes for organisations such as the MasterCard Foundation, British International Investments, MakeUK, the World Bank as well as numerous British Council projects on social entrepreneurship, education and skills training, public policy, STEM public engagement and work on evaluating the achievements and challenges of Women in STEM in Egypt. She has grown her skills and experience working for organisations such as the Association of Commonwealth Universities, British Educational Research Association (BERA), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) as well as the Royal Society of Medicine and UNA-Canada. Joyce was a founding Advisory Board member of the Perivoli Africa Research Centre, which support meaningful collaboration with academic, policy, advocacy and technical actors in countries and at regional levels across the African continent, as well as on the Advisory Committee at AfricArXiv, a community-led digital archive for African research communication.
