Trustee Board
We regret to announce that Stephen Tetlow MBE has announced his intention to resign after over 10 years of service as CEO.
The Trustees will announce an interim CEO shortly. Stephen has stated he is leaving because the actions of certain members opposed to recent reforms have made it impractical for him to continue to deliver the vision for the future of the profession he shares with other major institutions.
The Trustees are unanimous in wishing to thank Stephen and record their gratitude for his leadership during a period of unprecedented change in engineering, for his substantial role in promoting the wider engineering profession and for his outstanding contribution towards encouraging the next generation of engineers.
During his tenure, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers has grown to become the leading engineering institution for professionally registered engineers, has increased its reserves and seen its overall membership rise from 76,000 to over 120,000.
We wish Stephen the very best for the future.
Ian Joesbury Deputy Chair
