Apply to become Values and Behaviours, Trustee Board Member (observer)

A role has been created for a Member to participate in Trustee Board meetings (with “observer” status).

This is to bring new skills to the existing Board and strengthen its Governance by supporting the implementation of the Governance review recommendations. Specifically, to fulfil our purpose of creating an effective, inspiring, and inclusive culture that is fundamental to the success of the Institution.

In joining the Board, the Member will play a key role in helping to champion the culture transformation programme. The Institution is currently developing a new strategic approach to its culture and has the ambition of embedding this across its global operations, for all members and staff.

You will work closely with the Trustee Board, our Human Resources Director, and the Implementation Group.

This role is a non-remunerated, volunteer role and will be for a minimum term of 1 year. The incumbent will attend Trustee Board meetings to advise on matters of cultural change and inform the Board on the progress being made in the wider Institution. The role holds “observer” status on the Board and is therefore non-voting, in line with our by-laws.

About you

To be considered for this volunteer role, you will need the following skills:

  1. Must be a Member of IMechE, with an appreciation of the heritage, vision and ethos of the Institution and engineering profession.

  3. A high level of emotional intelligence (EQ) and interpersonal skills.
  4. Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships across diverse groups of people.

Applications are open to all members of the Institution who meet the requirements outlined in the role description.
