Principal Regional Advisor - Southern Asia
Prabal Sarma has worked for the Institution since 2012 and is based in Mumbai. He is responsible for expanding the Institution’s presence in the Southern Asia region. He helps engineers and companies with their professional development strategy and ensuring they have the right skills for the future. He is responsible for creating and maintaining long term relationships with key engineering companies, as well as introducing new companies and sites to the Institution.
He is keen to ensure that the Institution is recognised for setting the agenda for professional registration for engineers from the region, and preparing engineers to work in the global engineering environment.
Prabal has a Masters of Commerce from Poona University and a Post Graduate Diploma in International Business from Institute of Management Development and Research in Pune. He has an outstanding track record of achievement both within a blue-chip, international environment and SMEs, and in a range of business sectors. His experience covers global sales, business development and customer relations, as well as managing diverse cultures in challenging commercial situations.
Prabal enjoys working with engineering companies and seeing the impact that engineering has on human civilisation; he sees it as the link between scientific discoveries and real life, commercial applications. As engineers continually address the challenges faced by mankind and have the opportunity to make the world a better place to live in, Prabal is keen to offer support and advice about careers and professional recognition.
