EngTech process and forms

What is EngTech membership and registration?

As a member of the Institution you will be part of a unique network of the world’s best engineers.

EngTech is a level of professional registration for engineering technicians who can demonstrate that they have the skills and experience as set by the Engineering Council.

What are the benefits?

With your EngTech professional registration and membership you can:

  • Gain professional recognition with letters after your name – EngTech MIMechE
  • Develop your career and progress to higher earnings and more responsibility
  • Be part of an international network offering support, mentoring and networking
  • Access life-long learning resources, events and training

Who can apply?

Anyone working in an engineering field can register as an EngTech. You don’t need any formal qualifications, although typically EngTechs have an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or similar. You have to prove competence in your field by demonstrating key personal and professional skills.

If you have completed an IMechE approved modern/advanced apprenticeship you can apply through the EngTech approved route scheme. You will need to prove you are making a personal commitment to an appropriate code of professional conduct.

How much will it cost?

The EngTech fees are tiered by age and experience to ensure all Engineering Technicians can apply. Click here for details of our annual fees. You may apply throughout the year and your annual fees are adjusted accordingly.
