Engineering Council update, published January 2014:

Third Edition of UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence:

Following a recent review the Engineering Council have updated the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC). The UK-SPEC now includes a new competence under section E. Competence E5 requires candidates to provide evidence of how they, ‘exercise responsibilities in an ethical manner’.

Formal assessment of this new competence will not begin until January 2016. Any application scheduled for interview after this date will include assessment of this new competence. Over the next few months the Institution will work with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth implementation of the revised standard across all our systems and processes.
