Institution news
We are now seeking three new Ordinary Members, in voluntary appointments, for NomCo who have the following skills:
- Experience of recruitment at a senior level, succession planning, and/or talent pipeline management
- A demonstrable ability to operate and contribute at Committee level
- Good leadership skills, including the drive to achieve results
- Excellent communication skills with sound emotional intelligence
These skills may have been demonstrated through your involvement with a range of organisations (e.g., work, academic, charitable, professional bodies etc.).
This is an exciting opportunity for those IMechE members wishing to broaden their skills base, experience and knowledge and, at the same time, helping to ensure that our Institution is accessible, diverse, and progressive. A current member of NomCo says:
“My time serving on NomCo has been extremely interesting and rewarding. It has given me an opportunity to collaborate with a great team and have a material impact within the Institution. I’ve developed both a better understanding of the Institution and skills to transfer into my professional life. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it!”
The IMechE is committed to collaborating closely with you to provide maximum flexibility, and to ensure that your volunteer responsibilities fit around your personal and professional commitments. The Institution wishes to broaden the appeal and representation on NomCo and applications from younger and/or more recent members who are developing the above skills are encouraged.
There are usually six NomCo meetings of per year, with one in-person meeting at Birdcage Walk in London, the rest taking place virtually. Reasonable expenses to attend the in-person meeting will be reimbursed by the IMechE. The time commitment will be approximately 1-2 days per month, but will also involve short, intense activity around specific recruitment tasks and will require work outside of regularly scheduled meetings. The term of office is three years with the possibility of renewal for a further term.
IMechE values diversity and is strongly committed to providing equal opportunities for all applicants. We want to ensure you perform at your best and experience no barriers in the selection process. Please do let us know if you require any adjustments in the selection process, for example when completing the application form or at interview stage.
