FS2020 Virtual Static Events

Formula Student Team

Get an overview of the virtual events taking place for this year's competition.

The FS Organising Committee and IMechE team has been working hard to collate and finalise plans for a programme of static events so that we would be in a position to provide you with some detail, as promised, following the Easter break.

This article will focus on the Virtual Static Events (including FS-AI). There will be further communications in the following weeks on the additional virtual elements that we continue to work on which are Scrutineering Document Review and a Virtual Dynamic Event.

The overview document for the Virtual Static Events is now available from the Forms and Documents page, including:

FS and Concept Class

  • Engineering Design
  • Cost & Manufacturing
  • Business Plan Presentation

FS-AI

  • Autonomous Design
  • Real World AI
  • FS-AI Business Plan Presentation
  • Simulation Development (NEW)

Please read the document in full.

IMPORTANT: For Engineering Design, Autonomous Design and Cost & Manufacturing there are document submissions still required as per the existing Key Dates documents.

Also note that between now and the end of next week* there will be further supporting documentation available on the Forms and Documents page of the website, including:

  • Draft revised FS2020 Rules (for static events only) – including scoring criteria
  • FS-AI Simulation Development rules (NEW)
  • Key Dates document for Virtual Static Events – including presentation submission deadlines, judging dates, finals dates etc
  • Cost ‘Special Condition’ supporting document
  • Engineering Design ‘Score Sheet’ and guidance document
  • Guidance document for virtual judging – including video conference etiquette, max number of participants etc

*Documents will be uploaded as they become available, so check back regularly

If you have read through the overview document and supporting information once available but have some questions about the events, please use the FSQD under the relevant question heading (for FS-AI, please use ‘OTHER’) and we will respond to you as quickly as possible.
