China’s Xiao Jiang wins Speak Out for Engineering Global 2023 Final
China’s Xiao Jiang wins Speak Out for Engineering Global 2023 Final

Congratulations to Xiao Jiang who won this year's Speak Out for Engineering Global 2023 Final which took place in Birdcage Walk on 7 September.

Xiao, who is studying at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and represented North East & Asia Region, gave a presentation on Bernoulli's principle which is a is a key concept in fluid dynamics that relates pressure, speed and height.

Jake Fraser, Director of Digital, Data and Innovation at the Institution, who was one of the judges, said:

"Xiao demonstrated exceptional creativity, thoughtful pragmatism and delivered an excellent presentation on a fundamental principle all engineers should know."

Runner up was Germany’s Alexander Eckervogt representing Europe Region who gave a presentation on offshore wind turbine technology.

Speak Out for Engineering encourages young engineers to improve their communication skills and present on an engineering topic to a general audience.
