Apply to become Design Challenge Steering Committee Chair

Professor Ben Hodgkinson BEM FIMechE, will be stepping down as Chair of the IMechE Design Challenge after almost two years.

Ben begins his new role as Technical Director at Red Bull Powertrains at the end of May 2022. On behalf of the IMechE and the Steering Group, we would like to thank Ben for his contribution and his commitment to driving the Challenge forwards with the introduction of new competition elements to support the development of the next generation of professional engineers.

We are now accepting applications for a new Chair of the Design Challenge. The Chair is responsible for leading the Design Challenge with the support of the Steering Committee, ensuring that the Challenge objectives, aims and terms of reference are in line with Institution’s strategic objectives, values and policy priorities. In terms of time commitment, it is expected that the Chair will attend quarterly online Steering Group meetings, attend Regional and National Finals events and represent the Design Challenge at other ad-hoc Institution meetings and events.
