Engineers of all disciplines can access a wealth of information from our main collection, virtual library, and other services. The archive charts the development and progress of mechanical engineering with collections of personal papers from important engineers and engineering companies.

The virtual library is a collection of electronic resources available for Institution members. You can search for papers, read full-text handbooks, download articles and access datasheets all from your desktop.

The Picture Gallery houses a multitude of treasures taken from our archive collection, including over 400 photographs documenting the twentieth century history of D Napier and Son Company, and 200 historic drawings by David Joy and the Boulton and Watt Company.
