Being a Trustee & Current Vacancies: Spring 2021
Support Network is governed by a Trustee Board of up to 13 people, who oversee the governance and strategic direction of the organisation. The Board is quite diverse and has Trustees from both within the IMechE membership and from non-engineering backgrounds.
Due to the usual succession retirement of Trustees plus the creation of a new role at Board level, we are currently recruiting up to 3 new Trustees to take up their role with effect from July 2021.
Elected trustees largely serve for an initial period of three years, after which they can stand to be re-elected for a further period of three years before taking a break of at least one year.
We hold four Trustee Board meetings a year. Since April 2020 due to lockdown restrictions, these have all been held online. We anticipate that future meetings will be held both in person and online as we adapt to new ways if working. We also hope that holding more meetings online will enable easier engagement at Board level by internationally based Trustees and those who cannot or do not wish to travel to London so regularly. Trustees are unpaid, though travel and overnight expenses as appropriate are met.
We have two general Trustee positions available, plus the role of Foundation Giving Trustee. We are particularly interested in hearing from potential applicants who are based outside of the UK, though all Trustee roles are available to candidates who can demonstrate the skills and personal attributes that we are seeking.
Here you can download a role description for all of the available Trustee roles. If you have queries or would like to request an application form and/or would like to have an informal discussion about any of the roles, please email the Support Network CEO, Anni Broadhead to arrange a time to talk. We anticipate holding initial interviews from April 2021. We look forward to hearing from you.
