Support Network is governed by a Trustee Board of up to 13 people, who oversee the governance and strategic direction of the organisation. The Board is quite diverse and has Trustees from both within the IMechE membership and from non-engineering backgrounds.
Elected trustees largely serve for an initial period of three years, after which they can stand to be re-elected for a further period of three years before taking a break of at least one year.
We hold four Trustee Board meetings a year. These are all now held on a hybrid basis, with Trustees either joining in person in London or online. We have found that holding more meetings online has enabled easier engagement at Board level by internationally based Trustees and those members who are also working full-time, or cannot/do not wish to travel to London so regularly. Trustees are unpaid, though travel and overnight expenses as appropriate are met.
Due to the retirement of Trustees we usually have vacancies on our Board each year.
