UoL Racing visit Schaeffler Academy

University of Leicester Racing team got in touch to share details of their trip to the Schaeffler Motorsport Academy in Germany.

The Academy took place over two days at Schaeffler's corporate offices at Herzogenaurach and included a tour of the factory and headquarters, panel discussions with Schaeffler Engineers both from Formula E and business sides and also with drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Neel Jani from DTM and LMP1.

If this wasn't enough already, UoL Racing joined over 35 other Formula Student teams, including fellow British competitors from Team Bath Racing, for technical workshops covering Formula Student Driverless, Data Analysis and Vehicle Simulation (wrt Formula E and Audi Sport teams), Project Management and eMobility.

FS_UOL_large2Chief Human Resources Officer at Schaeffler, Corinna Schittenhelm, commented:

“With your enthusiasm for new drive technologies, practical experience and excellent teamwork, you are perfect fit for Schaeffler. We would be delighted to welcome you to our team as employees and the potential managers of tomorrow.”

It's great to hear about engineering companies who are committed to supporting STEM graduates and to be reminded of how Formula Student can open doors and career opportunities post graduation.

Thomas Kane, Team Principal, enjoyed the experience, saying:

"It was a great opportunity to network and go for a drink with lots of other Formula Student teams from the continent"
