First in a technical article series from IMechE's Power Industries Division.

IMechE has four strategic objectives:

  • Develop engineers
  • Promoting engineering
  • Inform opinion
  • Encourage innovation.

There are many ways the Institution does this already:

Despite all of this worthwhile existing activity, feedback from our membership has indicated a potential gap with a desire for more technical content to be made available online.

In response, the Power Industries Division is promoting an initiative to encourage our members to write about their innovative and developmental engineering activities in their own words: providing a balanced view of the engineering challenges as well as opportunities and successes.

The first article of our ongoing series is by Paul Roberts, Mott MacDonald’s Nuclear Programmes Director, providing an overview of nuclear fusion reactor development.
