Statement Relating to the FS2019 Results Correction

Formula Student Team

Following enquiries from teams after the Endurance event which took place on 21 July, we have identified two errors in the scoring for this event. These errors affect the scoring for both the Endurance and Efficiency elements of the competition with subsequent impact on the overall scores for Formula Student 2019.

The first is that cars which did not complete race distance were not credited one point per lap completed as per the FSUK Supplementary Rules (D7.7.5).

The second issue was that for a number of teams, only up to the 3 minutes allowed for the driver change was removed from their time to enter and exit the driver change area, rather than the actual time for driver change (where the timing information includes the time to safely release cars back onto track). In many cases this time difference was minimal but for some it was material.

As with previous events, we have corrected the results as they arise from administrative errors which the teams would not reasonably be expected to notice in order to raise protests during the event. While this has not affected the allocation of prizes, it does change the order of some events including the top 10 competitors (from 4th place downwards) and some of the overall positions.

The organising committee would like to apologise for these errors, particularly where teams have already informed their supporters and sponsors of their final results. We are sure that you will appreciate that in the interests of fairness it is necessary to make these corrections.
