SEAR Paper and Poster Competition

The Paper and Poster competition is an initiative to promote cross border collaborative events in SEAR. It is supported by the SEAR IMechE Chair Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Vinesh and SEAR IMechE Young Member Representative Ir. Dr. Chua Yaw Long.

The paper and poster competition was held over a span of 3-4 weeks, starting from registration on the 20 June to the online presentation session on the 9 July.

There were 9 groups registered for the paper competition and 6 groups registered for the poster competition. Among the competitors who participated were from Institut Teknologi Bandung Indonesia (ITB), Universiti Tenaga Nasional Malaysia (UNITEN), and Universiti Teknologi Mara Malaysia (UiTM).

Three judges accepted the invitation to evaluate the entries by the participants. They were Dr. Ker Pin Jern from UNITEN Malaysia, Dr. Kushendarsyah Saptaji from Sampoerna University Indonesia, and Dr. Poetro Lebdo Sambegoro. from Institut Teknologi Bandung Indonesia.

Three paper finalists and three poster finalists were shortlisted for online presentation and announced on 2 July. In addition to their submitted work, the finalists were required produce an 8 minute video to present their work and idea. These videos were uploaded onto a designated YouTube channel, where the links were shared to the panel of judges as well as the webinar audience.

On 9 July, the virtual question and answer sessions between the judges and the finalists was conducted.  At the end of this virtual session, the winners for each category were announced. The winners’ prize was Rp2.000.000 for the paper category and Rp1.000.000 for the poster category. E-certificates were also distributed to all the competitors, the finalists, and the winners.

The champion for the poster category hailed from UiTM while the team from ITB won the champion for paper category.
