Rules announcement

An announcement from Dan Jones, Chief Judge for the UK Formula Student competition, following the release of the European Formula Student ruleset.

The recently released V1.1 of the European rules contained several key changes to EV5.8 which would force many teams to redesign and remanufacture or buy new elements of their Tractive System Accumulator.

We have been in discussion with most other European events, there is a common consensus that this rule change is too late and disadvantages teams looking to reuse existing hardware or that had already frozen their designs.

For the 2026 event, EV teams are permitted to comply with EV5.8 from either our 2025 or 2026 rules.
