“People learn nothing when they’re asleep and very little when they’re bored.” – John Cleese
In an attempt to provide members with services that meet expectations, and with a drive toward improving the world through engineering, we have updated our eLearning service. There was a growing trend from surveys and general communication by engineers suggesting our online learning services could do with a review in order to create something more fit for purpose and suitable for the needs of engineers. We listened to this feedback, and have developed a new collection of eLearning courses in partnership with Video Arts.
The Institution/Video Arts partnership will be bringing you the new collection from 1 October. Set up by John Cleese and Sir Antony Jay in 1972, Video Arts believes learning should be fun, easy and accessible. Their philosophy is that you can change the way people behave at work, if you engage them emotionally with entertaining content. The Institution agrees, and therefore we’ve chosen them as our video content provider.
The videos themselves are extremely short. They cover key ideas in a matter of minutes, which has the added benefit of making it extremely easy to pin point the exact content you need in that moment, or you can watch through as many or as few as you need at your own pace. The videos feature familiar scenarios paired with a concoction of drama & humour to ensure the course content is offered in a light-hearted manner. By making it unique & memorable, it becomes far more natural to put into practice as users actually retain the information more effectively. To further improve the memorability of content, familiar/famed UK personalities are used to convey the ideas, adding to the memorability.
Unlike previous eLearning with the Institution, everything we offer comes in one eLearning package. This means that the 100 eLearning courses which are packed into 300 bite size videos are available for one price. The entire package, with 12 month 24/7 access is a low £149. With a desire to continually up-skill engineers, we’re offering the package as part of a discounted bundle for delegates who book in to any of our public programme courses. When a public programme course is purchased, the eLearning package is available for £99 to supplement what is learnt in any of our courses.
