Apprentice Automation Challenge Team

The Hucknall Harriers outline the project they hope will bring them success at this year's Apprentice Automation Challenge!

Allow us to introduce our dynamic team, comprised of five innovative minds united in a common goal: to craft a groundbreaking product to conquer the challenge before us. Each member brings a unique blend of skills, expertise, and passion to the table, infusing our collaboration with diversity and dynamism.

Our members are:

  • Dylan Wilson (Design + business)
  • Patrik Holodnak (Leader + Design)
  • Samuel Bailey (Business lead + manufacture)
  • Ben Chadwick (Electronics lead + programmer)
  • Xena Verma (Programmer + manufacture)

Our project idea is called S.P.A.R.C.S, which stands for Solar Panel Auto Rotation and Cleaning System. Our team wanted to manufacture a product that would fit under the environmental branch of the challenge so we opted to create a product which would increase the efficiency of solar panels.

This idea consists of a frame in which a solar panel is inserted into, and the frame then tracks the sun. The frame also has a cleaning feature in which an arm sweeps across the solar panel to clear off any debris/dirt. When both features are combined it will boost the effiency of a solar panel by up to 35%.

Our product will be manufactured for use in the industry such as solar farms or factories.
