This year, positions for four of the seven that represent the Institution's international members are up for election: Europe, the Americas, Oceania and the South East Asia Region. The nomination period for the 2022 international region elections officially closed on the 18 March 2022.

We did not receive any eligible nominations for the below roles as a result, it has been agreed to extend the deadline to provide you with the opportunity to nominate yourself, if interested. The new deadline will be 22 April 2022 11:59 BST.

  • European Region Chair
  • European Young Member Representative
  • Americas Young Member Representative
  • Oceania Young Member Representative

It is the role of the Chair and Young Member Representative to represent the Region and to work with the volunteer groups to raise the profile of the Institution and encourage more people to get involved. This could be through organising or attending events, strengthening links with industry and local institutions and developing the regions strategy in line with the Institutions overall business plan.

This is an ideal opportunity to influence the Institution’s future international development, so please go to the respective NearYou pages to download the nominee pack where you will find an application form and more information about the criteria and duties for each role.

All nominations received have been verified and we can confirm the nominations as follows:

We received one eligible nomination for the below Region Chair positions:

  • Americas Region Chair, Jim Cowling re elected unopposed
  • South East Asia Region Chair, Chua Yaw Long elected unposed

They will start their 3 year tenure at the IMechE AGM in May 2022.

We received 2 nominations for the position of SEAR Young Member Representative:

  • Man Djun Lee
  • Steven Hoo

The election for this position will take place via Election Runner throughout the month of April and those eligible to vote will receive further information shortly.

If you have any questions about the process, please email mary.newton@imeche.org.
