IMechE is asking for input from our members on the UK government’s Rail Reform Bill.

As the most significant change to the railway industry in three decades, and likely for decades to come, this is our crucial moment to provide further input into the Bill through the House of Commons Transport Select Committee’s inquiry. The Rail Reform Bill was tabled to Parliament on 5 November and includes:

  • an Introduction to Great British Railways (GBR)
  • how GBR will be held to account
  • how the railway will be funded
  • what will be in the Long-Term Rail Strategy.

This opportunity follows the IMechE response to the government’s draft proposals, which members also supported us with earlier this year. David Shirres BSc CEng MIMechE DEM, IMechE member and active contributor to our Railway Division shares an overview of our response.

An online session to submit your views

The IMechE Policy Team is once again working with the Railway Division to draft a response. Due to the challenging submission deadline of 26 November, we’re holding an online session where you can share your views on Friday 21 November at 12:00 GMT.

Led by Rebeka Sellick, Chair of the Railway Division, this work will inform our response, and your participation is very much appreciated.

Members are welcome to join Rebeka at her lunchtime session and add your thoughts on how we should respond.

Please email membernetworks@imeche.org to book onto the session, ask questions or find out more. You can also let us know if you cannot make it to the session.
