With a strong focus on innovation, regional collaboration, and member empowerment, the AGM marked a significant milestone in the group’s continued growth.
Opening session and Chair’s vision
The day opened with a welcome address by Engr. Muhammad Hammad, Assistant Secretary, followed by recitation of the Holy Quran. Setting the tone for the day, EUR ING Hafiz Muhammad Muddassir, CEng FIMechE, newly elected Chair of IMechE Pakistan Group and CEO of MECHESOL Co., delivered a powerful address outlining his vision for the future.
EUR ING Hafiz Muhammad Muddassir spoke passionately about the evolving role of engineers in shaping Pakistan’s economic and technological trajectory. He emphasized three pillars for future success: expanding membership, bridging academia and industry, and enhancing member development through structured support. He highlighted progress in member engagement tools such as SRS, CPD, and mentorship, and committed to optimizing these initiatives.
“Our goal is not just to sustain engineering excellence, but to elevate it,” he said. “I am committed to ensuring that every member of IMechE Pakistan has access to the tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to thrive in the engineering profession.”
Treasurer’s report and progress review
Mr. Arsalan Allahyar, IEng MIMechE Vice Chair, presented the Treasurer’s Report for 2024–25, reflecting financial discipline and transparency. A review of the minutes from the previous AGM followed, showcasing progress on key action items.
Young members and regional engagement
Muhammad Owais, AMIMechE, Chair of the Young Members Panel, presented highlights including the UAS Challenge and Abul Kalam Design Challenge (AKDC). He emphasized the crucial role of student chapters and volunteers in fostering innovation.
Engr. M. Ibrahim Khan (North Panel) and EUR ING Syed Muhammad Ali (South Panel) reported on regional efforts to enhance member outreach and professional engagement across Pakistan.

Group achievements and election results
Dr. Aneela Wakeel, AMIMechE, Honorary Secretary, shared a summary of the Group’s activities over the past year, including international workshops, technical challenges, and collaborative events. A key moment followed as EUR ING Sarfaraz Ahmad announced the newly elected Executive Committee for 2025–26, with EUR ING Hafiz Muhammad Muddassir re-elected as Chair.
Keynote presentations and sector focus
Three expert keynote speakers shared insights:
- Dr. Mohsan Haider (Turkish Aerospace) spoke on high-performance composite materials in aerospace.
- Dr. Nadeem Ahmed Sheikh (IIUI) addressed digital tools for sustainable thermal systems.
- Dr. Riaz Mufti (Hybrid Engineering/NUST) discussed local innovation in Industry 4.0 and AI-driven quality improvement.
Centres, acknowledgments and closing
Updates from the Automotive and Power Centres illustrated IMechE’s strong ties with industry. Shields were presented to distinguished contributors, and Patron Mr. Sikandar Mustafa Khan commended the group’s volunteers and vision.
In his closing address, Chair EUR ING Hafiz Muhammad Muddassir reinforced his commitment to building a robust support structure for engineers, grounded in accessibility, mentorship, and continuous learning. The event concluded with a networking lunch that fostered collaboration and renewed energy for the year ahead.
