IMechE International EV Batteries conference - 5-6 November 2019, London

Formula Student Team

Working on an electric car for FS2020? Interested in EV battery technology? Check out next month's IMechE conference.

Taking place in just five weeks time on 5-6 November 2019 at the Kia Oval in London, join the International EV Batteries 2019 conference to address the latest engineering design processes and discuss best practice in battery application with your peers and industry leaders.

The event will feature presentations from all the key OEMs, battery manufacturers, battery management systems providers and academic institutions involved, who will share their expertise on topics including lifecycle of the battery from its initial design and manufacture to the end of life process and methods to manage battery use and application.

Key programme highlights:

  • Ilika outline their vision and plan for solid state battery development
  • Airbus discuss electric vehicle battery development in aerospace through their various projects including the E-Fan X demonstrator
  • Renault share an overview of applications to extend battery life for vehicle usage
  • Jaguar Land Rover reveal how they have overcome the challenge of battery design for high volume production
  • Warwick Manufacturing Group introduce their work into existing processes for recycling and incorporating electric vehicle batteries into this
  • Millbrook highlight best practice in automotive battery testing including how to split testing into cell, module and pack
  • Cosworth share their findings from the UK-ABSC concept demonstrator programme
  • Ford Motor Company provide a case study on battery cooling during charging
  • Aston Martin discuss battery modelling and simulation from their Innovate UK-funded Battery Advances For Future Transport Applications project

"Attending conferences, either as a speaker or just in the audience, widens an engineer’s knowledge, exposing them to new aspects of technology that they may not have come across in the past. It is important that engineering continues to move forward and that can be accomplished by sharing knowledge and ideas at such events. EV is a field where the technology is developing rapidly and simulation tools are capable of supporting that development, thus it is more important to stay abreast of all developments."
Stuart Nixon, Solution Consultant, Dassault Systèmes
