Additional safety measures have been put in place throughout the building. These include:
- hand sanitising stations in key areas
- additional signage to help visitors with physical distancing
- reduced lift capacity
- an extra team dedicated to cleaning high-contact surfaces such as door handles, lift buttons and handrails several times a day.
*Please note that with very few exceptions, IMechE committee meetings will take place online until the end of 2020 at the earliest, so you are strongly advised to check with the meeting organiser before planning to attend in person.
Meeting and event spaces
If you wish to book a meeting for up to 30 people in central London, you can now use One Birdcage Walk’s event spaces. Members receive a discount of up to 25% on the room hire rates.
The Venue and Room Hire Team has been busy planning for re-opening the venue and these are some of the measures that are now in place:
- Flexible bookings: Government guidance can change at any time, therefore, you can now change dates of events or meetings booked in 2020 for free (terms and conditions apply)
- Changes to operations: Many changes around the building have been implemented to ensure all guests and employees are safe whilst at One Birdcage Walk
- Physical distancing: All meeting and event spaces have been assessed and room capacities reduced to enable physical distancing
- Modified catering: An important part of any event, catering has been reviewed and pre-packaged options will be provided so that guests can collect them and enjoy in their own space. All catering staff will be wearing PPE when setting up catering and serving

Training
You do not need to book a visit if you are attending training at One Birdcage Walk.

Library and Members' Hub
IMechE Library and Members’ Hub will remain closed for members and visitors following recent Government advice. However, you can still request to borrow items via postal loan (Europe only) and download articles and books from our substantial online library.
