IMechE Brunei Student Chapters host membership drives

Over 30 students attended IMechE-PB Student Chapter’s annual membership drive, held at the Politeknik Brunei Lumut Campus for newly enrolled engineering students.

Over 30 students attended IMechE-PB Student Chapter’s annual membership drive, held at the Politeknik Brunei Lumut Campus for newly enrolled engineering students. 

The new cohort were welcomed and introduced to IMechE and our aims: to equip students with the skills necessary to prepare for their engineering journey, and to help them hone those skills along the way.

The session was led by Nur Nadhirah Aqeelah binti Mohammad Azmi (IMechE-PB Student Chapter Chair). Her presentation championed the mission and vision of IMechE and highlighted the benefits of student membership, which include access to digital libraries, technical workshops, and industry networking events.

IMechE-UTB Student Chapter held its own recruitment drive and 43 newly enrolled Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) students attended. The event started with opening remark from Ir. Dr. Denni Kurniawan, Programme Leader of Mechanical Engineering, UTB, to welcome the students, followed by the guest speaker, Ir. Chin Lee Tuck, Deputy Chairman of IMechE Brunei Group. Students also heard from guests Ir. Vincent Chong and Hj Mohd Isa.

Ir. Chin introduced IMechE to the students and explained the pivotal role IMechE can play in supporting them and becoming a certified member. Ir. Vincent Chong gave a speech on his engineering experience in the field.The chairman of IMechE-UTB SC, Muhammad A’zizul Faiz bin Aldi, gave  a speech on the upcoming Speak Out for Engineering event, and hosted an interactive quiz session with the students. The session ended with a presentation of a token of appreciation to Ir. Chin Lee Tuck, followed by a group photo.
