HQ Update

IMechE members took the opportunity to make their voices heard by participating in the recent ballot on the future of the Institution’s London headquarters, delivering a clear and decisive mandate for the Headquarters Programme to proceed.

The result
Thank you again to all members who took part in the recent ballot on the future of the Institution’s London headquarters. Of those who did vote, almost 70% voted for the resolution. This meets the two-thirds majority needed to meet the requirements to approve the resolution as set out in the Institution’s By-laws. It creates the mandate for the HQ Programme to proceed.

Looking ahead
The Headquarters Programme will continue to ensure the right foundations are in place for the extensive work ahead. This will include reviewing resourcing, governance and funding arrangements to support progress in a structured, well-governed and transparent way. Views from across the membership will continue to inform how the work moves forward.

With thanks from the Trustee Board
The Trustee Board appreciates the time, thought and care members have given throughout the process. Constructive challenge and differing perspectives have strengthened the Programme, and Trustees remain committed to fostering engagement with members across its global community, particularly those involved in governance.

The Institution will close for Christmas on 24 December. We look forward to continuing to work with members in 2026.
