Formula Student
At the GKN Innovation Centre, we passionately believe that everyone deserves to breath clean air, and that the future of transport should be accessible and environmentally sustainable.
We design and develop the next generations of eDrive for future hybrid and electric vehicles, creating systems that are smaller, lighter, smarter, more efficient, more power and torque dense, yet cost effective for volume automotive applications.

A smaller, lighter, smarter, more efficient eDrive creates a virtuous circle for the vehicle and everyone else, it means less materials and energy are used in the manufacture of the eDrive, and your vehicle can go further for each Watt of power consumed, reducing the size of the battery needed for the same range, which makes the vehicle smaller and lighter and use less resources in its manufacture.
When the vehicle comes to its end, as all things must; smaller, lighter and smarter makes recycling simpler and more cost effective reducing total life time CO2 and environmental impact.
Sponsorship opportunities for EV teams
GKN Innovation Centre are looking to work with select Formula Student teams who are building electric powertrain cars for the 2019 competition.
GKN can offer selected teams the opportunity to work with our specialist e-Powertrain and e-Dyno test centre to help optimise and tune your car’s performance, plus ongoing one-to-one mentoring to improve your project planning and management. Finally, all selected teams will be invited to a unique testing day ahead of the main competition, where teams will get the chance to run their car and go through pre-event scrutineering.
