GKN Automotive helps OBR switch to Electric

Formula Student Team

GKN Automotive will continue to support Formula Student this season.

This is as part of GKN Automotive's drive to find and develop the engineers who will help them shape the future of mobility and accelerate the development of cutting electric drive systems for the next generation of vehicles. They value the opportunity provided by Formula Student to interact with multi-talented, enthusiastic and dedicated young engineers.

A key part of this story is GKN Automotive’s technical partnership with Oxford Brookes Racing (OBR) for the 2019/20 season. OBR is one of three teams supported by GKN Automotive and was the first to accept the invitation to come and visit GKN Automotive’s Innovation Centre in Abingdon and explore what support they could provide. As OBR develops its first ground-up electric racer, featuring four-motor all-wheel-drive, it was agreed that they will work closely with the Innovation Centre team at Abingdon on dyno testing and systems integration, as well as draw on GKN Automotive’s world-leading expertise in e-propulsion. Both sides look forward to deepening the collaboration over the course of this season, to push innovation and learning in the ever-evolving space of e-mobility.
