Formula Student
Neil Carr-Jones, winner of the 2017 Outstanding Contribution Award at Formula Student, is preparing to run the Surrey Half Marathon on 11 March.
A familiar face in the Paddock, 2018 will be Neil’s 18th Formula Student.
Neil and his team at Goose Live Events are right at the heart of FS and work throughout the year with the Committee and IMechE team to plan and deliver the live event each July. A great organiser and inspirational leader, we could think of no one more deserving of the Outstanding Contribution award in 2017.
This Spring, Neil will be putting his stamina and determination to a slightly different use by embarking on a 13-mile road race in Woking, Surrey.
"Back in September (wine was probably involved), I entered my very first half marathon. I needed a change and I am thoroughly enjoying the prep, surprising myself and, no doubt, others" said Neil.
As part of his preparation, Neil has committed to weekly Personal Training sessions, early morning gym and road running drills and on Saturday 27 January, he completed his first Parkrun.
"Well I actually surprised myself this morning," writes Neil on his Justgiving page "my target for the Horsham 5k Parkrun was 40 minutes, the record shows I did it in 39:17 – result!"
So does our super speedy Neil have a time in mind for the Half? "I just want to finish", said the ever-modest NCJ!
