Formula Student Team
Teams interested in FS-AI will have an exclusive first look at the full ruleset for 2019 and the opportunity to discuss and clarify competition requirements with our AI experts at Learn To Win at the MTC on Friday 9 November.
Dr Andrew Deakin, Formula Student Chairman, and his team will outline the regulations along with options for entering the competition including details of how Universities can get their hands on their very own ADS-DV platform. The ADS-DV prototype will also be on display.
“The FS-AI workshops at Learn To Win will provide prospective teams with information they need to understand the requirements of entering FS-AI in 2019 onwards” outlined Andrew Deakin. “Importantly, those who are interested in having their own ADS-DV will have the first opportunity to secure their place on the waiting list for one of these fantastic vehicle platforms. We have planned an initial production of just ten cars for 2019 and they will be allocated on a first come first served.”
Representatives from Edinburgh University Formula Student, who have been integral to the AI testing of the ADS-DV and won the Dedicated Driving Task (DDT) competition in 2018, will be on hand to discuss their own experiences and present an introduction to FS-AI. Ignat Georgiev from EUFS said “Making a car is already difficult enough, but how can you make it drive itself? Autonomous cars combine the state of the art of engineering and computer science to form the future of automobiles. The FS-AI Workshop will show you what it takes to develop the AI for a driverless FS car and get exclusive tips from last year's winners."
Event partners MathWorks will contribute to the workshops with demonstrations on how MATLAB and Simulink, software packages available free of charge to Formula Student teams, can be utilised to develop algorithms and generate code for autonomous driving.
“Using MATLAB and Simulink will help teams to start building advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving (AD) applications” said Christoph Hahn, Technical Education Specialist. ”If your team is looking to get involved in the Autonomous Driving competitions of Formula Student, don’t miss our session at Learn to Win 2019 for technical insights including vision detection algorithms, sensor fusion algorithms and much more.”
