FS-AI Platform Entry for FS2025

Proposal for concept class version of the FS-AI ADS class entry.

The Formula Student organising committee proposes to develop and introduce a new FS-AI entry category allowing for purely autonomous ‘platforms’ which cannot accommodate a human driver. Such a platform can be developed according to a simpler technical rule set with safety rules appropriate to this concept.

The Organising Committee propose to develop this new rules set in conjunction with teams expressing an interest, the mainstream Formula Student Rules committee and Motorsport UK (MSUK).

The rules set will aim to take into account:

• A simpler set of technical rules, allowing for a simpler scrutineering process while maintaining safety assurance for the competition.
• Maintaining competitive parity between DDT, Platform and ADS category entries.

The long-term objective is to allow a steady progression path for a team from a DDT entry (sharing a vehicle), to a Platform entry (building and owning a vehicle), to an ADS entry. An additional aim is to create a place within FS-AI for a team to more easily convert an existing FS car into an FS-AI entry. The Platform entry category will allow for this to be done more easily than the current ADS category permits.
