If you have any further questions, feel free to write to the project team at fs@imeche.org and we look forward to confirming your team for the competition.

Team Registration fees

Following team feedback, we are aware that teams need support during these challenging financial times so we have frozen standard team registration fees at 2025 rates.

However, operational costs and inflation across the industry continue to rise. While we’ve absorbed much of this increase, we also need to ensure the long-term sustainability of the event. To reflect the increase in operational costs, additional team member fees have been slightly adjusted.

Additionally we are pleased to announce that having reviewed our insurance requirements, we are able to confirm that the teams only need a minimum limit of £10 million PLI (see details below) which we hope will bring some financial relief for your teams.

We hope this allows teams to commit under similar arrangements as last year and we look forward to seeing you in July.

Team Insurance Requirements for 2026

For those who attended Learn to Win last month, you will have seen the below announcement on the 2026 insurance requirements for teams. Further updates and guidance on the insurance policy for FS 2026 will be provided shortly on our website.

  • On track activity – Motorsport UK Certificate of Exception: Formula Student event is covered by a Motorsport UK Certificate of Exemption. Under this certificate, participating teams are covered by Public liability insurance for all on track activities.
  • Non-track activities – Public Liability Insurance: For all other non-track activities all teams across all classes (Concept, FS and FS-AI) are required to secure a minimum of £10 million in the form of Public liability insurance.
  • Employers Liability Insurance: Each team must have this in place through their university to cover their students in the event of an accident to one of their own students.
  • Declaration: Declaration that cover will be in place must be provided when a place in the competition is offered, accepted and payment is due. Teams will not be permitted to participate without this confirmation.
  • Insurance Document Proof: Team Leaders are responsible for submitting copies of their team's Public Liability insurance and Employers Liability Insurance proof documents via the competition website in accordance with the Key Dates document.
  • FS-AI Teams: For FS-AI teams, we are still working on establishing this year’s policy update.
