Formula CarMaker licence update

Formula Student Team

With the 2023/24 season coming to a close, the IPG Automotive Formula CarMaker team provide guidance on how teams can access their software and prepare for the new year of competition!

Carmaker licences are still currently active up until 31/10/2024. The licences are available for vehicle development for the whole academic year (01/11/2023– 31/10/2024).

To renew the licences for the 2024/25 season, this will be done around November time, when the release of the new FCM package is available. This will be communicated via email, LinkedIn, Instagram and X. We will also remind this during the ‘Learn to Win’ event!

The process to obtain these licences are as follows:

  1. Register your team at:
  2. Once you have registered your team you will receive an email with a registration number, using the following link please fill out the form with your pc details etc…
  3. You will receive an email with a login and password. This will enable you to login into our client area (using the link below) and download the FCM (Formula CarMaker) package.
  1. To claim the 3 other licences, repeat step 2 and 3.

This package includes:

  • 4 free licences per team (so if you are in the AI and EV team you can claim up to 8 licences)
  • IPG Kinematics Add on – to design suspension systems
  • Cockpit Package – to test the vehicle using steering wheels and pedals.

Once in, click on the box ‘Installation files’ and download the FCM Package. There is the software package as well as a pdf with tutorials and explanation on how to use CarMaker.
