Institution news
A range of professional engineering institutions and leading multinational employers will be attending this year's
National Engineering and Construction Recruitment Exhibition. The event welcomes all those working in the engineering or construction sectors – from new graduates to experienced professionals.
Employability workshops, designed to help attendees understand their professional strengths and identify their future steps, are to take place throughout the two-day event. Friday 27 November will feature a
Women in Engineering forum, where inspirational speeches will be followed by an informal networking lunch, which will be free to attend for all female engineers. A packed programme of presentation sessions is planned for both days, featuring speakers from Comau, BAE Systems, GE, Lear and others.
During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to meet
recruiters from industry-leading companies, discover what opportunities they have to offer, and what they are looking for in an applicant. They will also be encouraged to assess their career plan – whether starting out, at a crossroads or looking for a new challenge – and get expert advice on training and professional registration from Institution representatives.
Interview and
CV clinics will provide advice to engineers on how they can promote their best qualities effectively, and give them tips on how to prepare for questions, to strengthen their chances of winning a new role. Attendees will be able to visit the
Careers Advice Lounge for a one-to-one meeting with advisers, as well as a
psychometric testing area.
The
professional development hub will provide a dedicated space for all delegates to meet with representatives from the Institution. Here, they will receive advice on professional registration and how it can help career development, as well as the benefits of membership.
