INSTITUTION IN THE NEWS
The Institution launched its report “Water: Drought and Flood”, which highlights that Britain’s water industry will face higher costs for treating and managing water supplies due to the increasing occurrence of drought and flood resulting from climate change. The report was covered in The Telegraph and a number of environmental publications.
Article which highlights that as summers become longer and hotter, water treatment plants will be required to run at peak flow rates for longer, raising maintenance and running costs as well as energy consumption. News that Aberdeen University motorsport team has raced its way to take 9th place in Formula Student. Formula Student was also featured extensively in Race Tech (print only): on the front cover, in the editor’s summary, in a feature on the University of Texas Arlington which won the first competition, in a 5-page feature on the AI element of the competition, in another feature on autonomous cars, in a feature on the innovations employed by the Australian Formula Collective, and in a feature on the all-female team from Pakistan which won Race Tech Spirit of Formula Student award. The competition was also covered by Racecar Engineering (print only): on the front cover, in a feature on Monash Motorsports team which brought two cars to Silverstone (one electric and one combustion), a feature on spaceframe or monocoque structural choice, a technical studies feature, and a feature on the overall competition.
