Lydia Amarquaye, Young Members Chair
Looking forward to a summer full of Young Members' events and activities aimed at YOU!
We had a very successful Strategy Weekend at the end of February, where we were able to spend a lot of time on developing key projects for the year ahead. You will see some of the fruit of this labour in your regions in the coming months.
We are pleased to launch the Young Member Photographer of the Year Competition, which will run from 25 May to 30 September 2018. Please look out for this, enter, and spread the word in your network. It is a growing competition, and a great way for you to get involved.
This summer, all the Divisional competitions will be running; this year, we have seen growing interest through an increased number of participants. There will also be an opportunity for school children to attend some of these, as part of the UK's Year of Engineering. I would highly recommend that you attend one if you are able to; it’s a great showcase of engineering and innovation. I wish all entrants the best of luck in their preparations and at the competitions.
The Young Members' James Bates Grant has been reinstated. This grant allows groups of Young Members to apply for money towards an engineering trip. In the past, this has included trips to CERN and Thorpe Park. I would encourage everyone to apply for this.
We also have the Community and Charity Grant, more details of which can be found on the website.
