Celebrating our 175th Anniversary

The Marble Hall and Gallery at One Birdcage Walk were abuzz with excitement last week as IMechE staff celebrated our 175th Anniversary.

With the staff party originally set for 28 January and then re-scheduled due to COVID-19, it is fair to say this celebration was greatly anticipated.

The party commenced with speeches and a toast lead by IMechE President, Peter Flinn and IMechE CEO, Alice Bunn. This was promptly followed by the cutting of the celebratory cake, featuring artwork of our building at OBW, created by our very own Membership Marketing Manager, Ravi Bhela.

Did you know, you can purchase your very own copy of our 175th Anniversary print here.

Staff members based at our external sites or unable to attend physically tuned in virtually to celebrate with their fellow colleagues. It was a wonderful time for all to come together and celebrate our achievements.

Our celebratory events will take place throughout 2022 with a focus on how engineers can continue to deliver our mission to ‘improve the world through engineering’, particularly in the areas of climate change, transport, education, and infectious disease control.
