Institution news
Chartered and Incorporated engineers at Zodiac Seats UK (ZSUK) received their certificates from Carolyn and then she, along with Institution colleagues, enjoyed a tour of the company’s site.
Carolyn congratulated ZSUK on its excellent ongoing support for the Institution, manifested in its management’s clear commitment to company based registration, which has produced many professionally registered engineers. She said:
“My visit to Zodiac Seats UK was really interesting; there is far more engineering and potential for future innovation than that which is immediately apparent to an outsider. I was impressed that they have such a strong professional development scheme for their engineers and which was so obviously fully supported by the senior managers. I was pleased to meet those who had become newly qualified, those who showed me around the production site and explained operations and the senior team. Thank you, ZSUK.”
Neil McManus, Zodiac Seats UK Chief Executive Officer, and many of his senior executive team, welcomed Carolyn and her Institution colleagues. Neil said:
“Zodiac Seats UK is proud to have developed a relationship with the Institution since early 2016 to help engineers work towards their professional registration. This event has been a wonderful celebration for our engineers and for the company.”
More engineers at ZSUK are currently working towards professional registration. Alan King, Business Development Manager for the Western Region, commended the close working relationship between ZSUK and the Institution, which has successfully supported over 20 engineers across two sites (Cwmbran and Camberley) through the registration process since 2016.
Following this success ZSUK has started a Supported Registration Scheme (SRS) with the Institution. This helps developing engineers to reach the competences required as part of the professional registration process. The company also offers training and development at all levels, including apprenticeships.
Carolyn, along with eight ZSUK employees, later attended the South Wales IMechE annual dinner. The welcome was given by Andy Pugh, Chairman South Wales Region and the after-dinner speaker was Welsh rugby union international Shane Williams MBE.
