The Institution of Mechanical Engineers is delighted to announce the opening of the ‘Call for Presentations’ for its prestigious Boiler User Group, which will return on 15-16 November 2023 to the Nottingham Belfry Hotel in the UK.
The 2023 User Group will continue within the context of aiming for a zero-carbon future and address key topics around energy from waste, CCS and alternative fuels. It will also consider the ongoing importance of energy security concerns in relation to availability, affordability and reliability.
Contributions from plant designers, operators, service providers and researchers will outline recent technical developments, lessons learned and successes from those in-industry, alongside the latest guidance from industry regulators, specialist associations and experts.
The process of getting involved as a speaker is simple: please view the full topics on the event website, email your work to evenconcepts@imeche.org by the 8 May 2023 deadline and we look forward to discussing in more detail ahead of the conference. All presenters will gain a complimentary place to access the User Group.
Topics covered at the User Group will address issues relating to all aspects of the design, operation, maintenance and integrity of boilers (fired boiler plants associated with power generation or industrial process steam), covering a wide scope of plant areas and fuels, including waste, biomass and fossil fuels.
Presentations will provide the spark for further discussions and knowledge sharing among delegates. This will enable engineers to overcome current operational challenges, take away best practice to better manage maintenance costs and unplanned plant downtime and ultimately carve out an effective route within net-zero plans.
Furthermore, all attendees will benefit from the opportunity to meet their peers across the power generation industry and make valuable new connections with like-minded professionals at dedicated networking breaks and the User Group dinner at the end of day one.
For any questions, please refer to the User Group website or contact the Institution’s Events Team and we look forward to receiving your presentation summary soon.
