The International Young Members Committee (IYMC) have started the IMechE Student Chapter of the Year Award, which recognises the efforts of the IMechE Student Chapters.
The competition was piloted in South East Asia in 2022 with hopes of rolling out to the wider international region in the future.
This is a call to recognise the great work of Student Chapters in the South East Asia Region and the running for the Best Student Chapter (SC) prizes. IMechE Student Chapters in South East Asia are encouraged to submit their 2022 annual report by 25 August 2023. The submitted reports will be evaluated by a judging panel elected by the International Young Members Committee based on their activities, recruitment, report presentation, and promotional activeness. The winner and runners-up will be awarded £300 and £200 prize money respectively.
The competition is open to all Young Members of the Institution - Affiliates, Associates or any member who has been professionally registered for less than 10 years.
Through this award, it is aimed to achieve the following objectives:
a) To give due recognition to the student chapter that had performed outstandingly
b) To provide an avenue for the student chapter to share their best practices with other student chapters
c) To provide student chapter to present their work through written presentation
d) To provide the student chapters an opportunity to build their network across the region.
