Advance Notice of upcoming Engineering Design event submission deadlines

Formula Student Team

Via the desk of Head Engineering Design Judge Neill Anderson

For all entrants you are required to submit a Design Report and a Spec Sheet, the format for which is set out in the Rules and supporting guidance. Please don’t upload something that is non-compliant.

The deadlines are as per the Key Dates document, https://www.imeche.org/events/formula-student/team-information/key-dates

To avoid any late submission penalties upload your Report and Spec Sheet well before 17-00 UTC on 12th May 2025.

Any time after that, even a few seconds and you will receive 20 points lateness. Every day (24 hours) after that deadline adds a further 20 points lateness.

After 5 days (i.e. 17-00 UTC on 17th May 2025) and therefore 100-point penalty, the server stops accepting uploads and the penalty for not submitting either the Report or the Spec Sheet (or of course both) is a Zero Score for Design.

We regret to bring you the revelation that neither the Internet nor its connections are perfect. As a result, you will need to upload early in case of interruptions and we strongly recommend that after uploading them you download them yourself to ensure what is there is what you expected.

Every year we get Reports that are 9 pages, one sentence or footer has been misplaced onto a ninth page and for no reason other than you didn’t bother to check the PDF conversion or something funny happened. No one sets out to be “that team”.

There is no (blank) template document for the Design Report, but guidance notes can be found at: http://www.imeche.org/events/formula-student/team-information/forms-and-documents  under "Guidance documents". Upload as PDF.

The template spreadsheet for the Spec Sheet is available at: http://www.imeche.org/events/formula-student/team-information/forms-and-documents  under "Static events documents". Ensure you use the one appropriate to your powertrain type. Upload as Excel document.
