ADAS 2017: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems will take place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 28-29 March 2017.
Ahead of ADAS 2017: Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, we spoke to Richard Schram of Euro NCAP.
Q: Could you briefly explain your role and involvement in advanced driver assistance systems?
RS: Within Euro NCAP, I am leading all Working Groups on advanced driver assistance systems and as such I am responsible on the development of the test and assessment protocols for inclusion of these systems in to our vehicle safety rating.
Q: What are you most looking forward to by attending and presenting at ADAS 2017?
RS: Discussions with participants on our requirements and getting their feedback and knowledge on systems currently under development.
Q: What is the number one challenge currently being faced with ADAS?
RS: Trying to distinguish between the hype of Autonomous Driving and identifying what is realistic in terms of mass market introduction of these systems.
Q: How important is ADAS for pathing the way towards autonomous and fully automated vehicles in the future?
RS: Without ADAS, there is no path towards autonomous vehicles. ADAS systems provide the safety back-up and maybe more important gradual costumer experience into more and more automation in vehicles.
