Terry Spall’s last appointment as President, takes questions from Network Rail engineers.
Whilst having their lunchbreak Network Rail engineers were invited to pose questions to Terry about his experiences as IMechE President. This farewell webinar which took place at the end of May was Terry’s last event as President. As Terry stated it’s been great to be President and definitely a different experience whilst the world has gone through a pandemic.
Rashid Wahidi Fellow and Network Rail host for the session stated ‘It gave me great pleasure to host the Q&A session, our first such interactive session at Network Rail with the IMechE President. It was a really motivating talk and showed pathways to get involved during our careers with IMechE activities as well as Mentoring and will support Network Rail Engineers to further engage and benefit with IMechE activities.”
The event was also an opportunity to welcome James Collinson from Network Rail who is now the Chair of the IMechE Rail division.
Terry concluded ‘A really great opportunity for me to engage with Network Rail. I was really impressed by the level of interest and the searching questions that came from their engineers; highly professional and clearly demonstrating a passion for engineering’.
As a follow on and aligning with COP26 Network Rail will be hosting an internal round table in November with the IMechE considering is decarbonisation enough?
