1 Month to go before the Apprentice Automation 2023 finals

Apprentice Automation Challenge Team

29 September 2023 at the MTC in Coventry sees the finals of this year's Challenge.

This September will see teams return to the Manufacturing Technology Centre for the culmination of this year’s Apprentice Automation 2023 finals.

Organised by the Young Members Committee of the Manufacturing Industries Division within the Institution, this event challenges groups of apprentice engineers to conceive, create and construct a functional system that effectively addresses a practical real-world challenge.

The Challenge empowers apprentices to develop their skills and knowledge, making them more confident and capable young engineers, and raises the profile of the organisations taking part.

The organisations participating in this year’s Apprentice Automation Challenge and their projects are as follows:

  • Nifty Lifty – Team Luffing Legends – Food Handling Device
  • Leonardo – Team It’s All Under Control - Step Smart
  • Leonardo – Team Failed Wonderkids – Smart Plug
  • Leonardo – Team Viva Smart – 3D Printing Material Re-Cycler
  • Leonardo – Team Yolanda’s Angels – FedUp Pets
  • Springboard Pro – Team Marvellous Creations – SmartHeap
  • MTC/Amazon – Team Prodigy – BoxE

The finals event will provide Apprentices with an opportunity to show off their hard work over the course of the last nine months and gain feedback on their engineering skills and decision making. Formal presentations of their work and demonstrations of their prototype products will take place in front of a panel of senior engineers and experts.

On behalf of the Institution, we wish all the teams taking part this year the very best with their preparation ahead of the finals event. The Apprentice Automation Challenge is grateful for the support of its sponsors The Manufacturing Technology Centre and The Manufacturer.
