
Cathy Hunsley is a recently retired safety and reliability engineer with over 40 years’ experience in the industry. She worked for one of the original consultancies in the reliability field for many years for clients across the defence, airport and transport industries. 20 years ago she oved to Transport for London to act as the SQE manager on a rail project in East London and was later involved in developing the safety management system for TfL to act as infrastructure manager for that railway. She subsequently worked in safety assurance for various TfL projects, including the Elizabeth line.
Cathy joined SRG’s predecessor the Mechanical Reliability Research Group nearly 40 years ago. As part of SRG she has acted as the Technical Editor of the committee’s textbook The Reliability of Mechanical Systems, which is still available from Amazon. She was Chair of the committee for 5 years.
She has represented SRG on BSi’s committee DS/1 Dependability for many years and is a member of the international committee TC56. She has led international project teams developing standards on the Dependability Case and the Specification of Dependability. She has also worked on numerous other standards.
