Top tips for Business Presentations

With mere days to go, we caught up with George Kamakaris to get his tips on the business presentation section of the event and how he landed a role with Bosch.

How has your time with Bosch been so far?

So far my time with Bosch has “Exceeded Expectations”. I get the chance to get involved with a wide range of activities that enrich both my personal and professional experience. Apart from that, one can feel from the first moment that Bosch is a diverse and very welcoming company

What was it that you think caught the eye of Bosch?

I believe my skillset and previous experience was interesting for Bosch. Big part of my job is to deal with people. I tried to show them on all interviews that I am very comfortable doing that which seemed to be a big “plus point” in the end.

Do you have any particular role you aspire to progress into?

At the moment I am happy as a resident Engineer. I learn a lot every day and I have close contact to my customer which is interesting and challenging. If I am to ever move, I would like to progress to a communications role and expand my soft skills portfolio as well.

What has been your favourite moment so far?

This is a very difficult question. I really enjoy every interaction with the customer because every discussion with them is challenging. However, if I were to choose the one moment I would say the OE Divisional meeting because I got the chance to meet and speak with many Bosch colleagues from around UK and Germany. Quite frankly it was interesting and lots of fun.

What made you apply to be a judge?

I always wanted to participate to that event and due to budget and interest from my university I never got the chance. Now that I am on the other side I would like to see the event in person and get to inspire young students who tried hard to get there.

Here are my top ten tips to succeed at business presentations

  1. Enjoy the ride. There is nothing more important
  2. Try to learn, not only to succeed on the competition
  3. Be fully prepared and know what you prepared/ present
  4. Get down to details. Make sure you are happy with your end result.
  5. Make sure you are confident about what you present.
  6. Answer all questions appropriately and if possible with facts.
  7. Dress appropriately for every occasion. Try to impress the judges.
  8. Do NOT get disappointed if you do not manage to win.
  9. Make sure you do the best for the project.
  10. Enjoy the ride. You are lucky to be here.
Thanks George, we'll see you at Silverstone
