Special Meeting called by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers on 21 May 2018

Chief Executive

A number legal and constitutional challenges were received from members attending the meeting concerning the notice, polling papers, communication and grounds on which the meeting was called.

The Chair decided to continue the meeting so the discussions concerning the motions could be heard and recorded  for the benefit of the membership; but the vote would be 'non binding' or informal until such time as the validity of above challenges were properly determined.

The non-binding or informal results were as follows:

Motion 1 – Tabled by the Trustee Board

This meeting has confidence in the elected Trustees and the Executive of the Institution to ensure that the IMechE complies with its statutory responsibilities and will work continuously to uphold the values and governance of the Institution.
