Academic requirements for CEng and IEng have been standardised with the introduction of UK-SPEC.

CEng

• Accredited BEng (Hons) degree plus appropriate Masters degree
• Accredited BEng (Hons) degree plus approved Further Learning to Masters level
• Accredited MEng

IEng

• Accredited Bachelors degree
• HNC/HND/Foundation degree plus approved Further Learning to Bachelors level

The current standards allow more flexibility for engineers with differing levels of qualifications to meet the academic requirements.

If your primary qualification is accredited by IMechE, it will have already met part or all of the benchmark academic requirements for becoming IEng or CEng registered. Information is available if your degree is not accredited, and if so, your qualifications would need to be assessed on an individual basis.
