Process

The Process Industries Division focuses on six main areas:

• Bulk Materials Handling
• Food Engineering
• Offshore Engineering
• Oil, Gas and Chemical
• Pharmaceuticals
• Water and Wastewater Industry Committee

Each of the above areas are represented by Technical Activity Committees, which meet three times a year. The purpose of the TACs is to:

• Liaise with internal Divisions and Groups, Regions and external bodies to provide the Institution's focus within their field
• Promote best practise
• Provide a forum for the dissemination of information through events and publications
• Support Institution members in their activities
• Promote education and training and continuing professional development and seek opportunities to provide the Institution's opinion on relevant topics

There are also regional centres in the West and North West of England:

• North West Centre
• Humberside Centre

The mission of the Process Industries Division is to provide a major engineering focus for all its IMechE members as well as other national and international bodies concerned with mechanical engineering within the process industry.
