Olympics Countdown

Monday 9 January was a milestone in the Olympics countdown as it marked just 200 days to the start of the London 2012 Games.  The Games provide a fantastic opportunity to showcase what Great Britain has to offer.  UK Trade & Investment has been tasked with delivering an exciting business summit for Advanced Engineering, Aerospace and Automotive at Lancaster House in London on Friday 10 August.

The Advanced Engineering sector summit will bring together some 90 or so global business leaders with British-based businesspeople to showcase British excellence through the use of a narrative on the strengths of the sector.  The opening plenary, kicking off with a Ministerial keynote address, will see major global companies such as JCB, Airbus, Nissan and Jaguar Land Rover participate in facilitated panel discussions about the strength of the UK as a trading partner and as the investment location of choice.  The reasons as to why this is the case will then be demonstrated using great examples of where industry and academia have collaborated to develop technical solutions and excellence throughout our supply chains, right down to niche technology SMEs.  The morning conference will then sign off with a showcase of practical examples of how all of this has come together to deliver solutions around the application of materials in aerospace and clean power solutions for automotive.  The afternoon of 10 August will then be set aside for one to one business meetings between UK-based and overseas companies and the day will end with a networking reception in central London.  For a copy of the UKTI press notice announcing the Business Summit programme, please click here ukti.gov.uk

As host to the British Business Embassy, Lancaster House also offers a number of opportunities to physically showcase innovative technologies relevant to the sector. UKTI is looking to the manufacturing sector to secure a range of leading edge innovative technologies to wow the overseas guests. Please contact Philippa Oldham at P_Oldham@imeche.org if you have a technology or product that you would like to be considered.
